Authority Nodes Explained

The VeChainThor blockchain uses a Proof-of-Authority consensus in which 101 Authority Nodes are validating / signing blocks on the VeChainThor blockchain.

Authority Nodes are selected by the VeChain Steering Committee that is formed out of individuals from across education and enterprise backgrounds. A block signer (Authority Node) needs to prove its identity to the VeChain Foundation and is required to hold at least 25 million VET as collateral. Additionally, the steering committee prerequisites that an Authority Masternode contributes to the VeChain ecosystem.

The collateral of an Authority Node is held by a separate Endorser / identity account.
